The Dandelion Hive centers LGBTQIA+ individuals at all intersections of identities. The transgender and gender non-conforming part of our community have dealt with challenges and traumas at the hands of binary gender norms. We center people who identify as transgender and/or non-binary in our recovery housing by operating a transgender & gender non-conforming specific recovery house and by providing as much information as we can on gender-affirming care. Gender-affirming care is a variety of medical assistance that supports individuals through their transition into their true gender identity. Gendering affirming services often, but don’t always, include hormone replacement therapy (HRT), assistance with updating legal name and gender markers, gender-affirming surgery and/or procedures, support groups, and gender-affirming mental health therapy.
